Escobedo Breaks School Record in 200 IM; Earns Honorable Mention All-American Honors

RESULTS

Indianapolis, In.—UMBC swimming and diving senior Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) earned her second Honorable Mention All-American status with a new school record in the 200 IM on Thursday.

Escobedo earned a spot in the B finals with an 11th place finish in the prelims with a time of 1:55.92.

The senior then took to the B finals, finishing in fourth place in her heat (12th overall) with a new school record time of 1:55.13. The finish earned her Honorable Mention All-American honors, the second time in her career.

"Emily has had the best start out of her four year career. This is the first time she has scored in this event at the championships," head coach Chad Cradock said. "Her growth is part of her dedication, focus, and drive. We are excited for the rest of the meet," he would go on to say

With her 12th place finish, Emily has put UMBC in 21st place overall in the championships.
