Women's Soccer Takes Down New Hampshire Behind Stevenson's Hat-Trick

Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. - After honoring graduating seniors Gabby Boehmer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Madison Koenig (Crofton, Md./South River) prior to the game, freshman Erin Stevenson (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) had her first multi-goal game of her career as she helped to lead the UMBC women's soccer team to a 3-1 comeback victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday afternoon. The Retrievers finish the season at 4-10-3 overall and 2-6-0 in America East games, while the Wildcats fall to 11-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference contests.

New Hampshire scored first in the third minute of the game after Francessa Picicci sent a backward kick over her head and Brooke Murphy settled under the crossbar from five yards out.

The Retrievers tied things up in the 72nd minute after sophomore Jessica Hopkins (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) threw a ball that landed at the feet of Stevenson, who was then able to get a quick shot off and past the goalkeeper.

Stevenson headed a ball past the keeper in the 77th minute after sophomore Rayven Conner (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) long booted a ball from about 35 yards down the field. Stevenson closed out the scoring run in the 83rd with a shot from the left side of the box.

Overall, the Retrievers outshot the Wildcats, 19-13, with a 9-3 advantage on goal. UNH did hold a 3-2 edge against UMBC in corner kicks.
