Baltimore, Md—The UMBC Softball team will step out of America East play on Wednesday when they host cross-town rival Morgan State at 2 p.m.
UMBC (16-20) will look to get the offense going after scoring a total of four runs in a three-game sweep at the hands of Binghamton last weekend. Freshman left fielder Morgan Peyou (Mercer Island, Wash/Mercer Island) was the lone Retriever to record more than two hits in the series, going 4-for-10 with three doubles. Junior third baseman Kaelin Jackson (Export, Pa/Franklin Regional) was the only UMBC player with multiple RBI, driving in two on a double in the first inning of game three.
Morgan State (8-20, 4-2) makes the short trek to UMBC after sweeping MEAC rival Howard in a three-game series in Washington D.C. The Lady Bears offense was rolling in the nation's capital, outscoring Howard 30-12 in the three games, winning by scores of 11-3, 3-2 and 16-7 (6 innings).
