Softball Drops Series Finale to Binghamton

Box Score

Baltimore, Md.--  Junior third baseman Kaelin Jackson (Export, Pa/Franklin Regional) had two doubles, including a two RBI one in the first, but it was not enough as the UMBC Softball team dropped the series finale, 3-2, to Binghamton on Sunday at UMBC Softball Stadium.

"I was proud of the way we bounced back from yesterday, and it shows that when we play our best, we can play with anyone in this league" said head coach Joe French

Senior pitcher Jessica Holte (Ashland, Va/Atlee) held Binghamton (19-9, 6-0) to one hit, a solo homer, and an unearned run, through the first six innings. However, the Bearcats were able to get three hits in the seventh, two with two outs, to walk-off with the win. Jackson had a double in the top of the seventh for UMBC (16-20, 1-5) that put two in scoring position with one out, but the Retrievers would strand both. Freshman Morgan Peyou (Mercer Island, Wash/Mercer Island) also had two hits for UMBC, who stranded 11 on-base.

The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday when they host Morgan State for a single game at 1 p.m.
