FULL RESULTS
State College, Pa.—Senior Hassan Omar broke the school record in the 3,000m on Saturday at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday. Several Retrievers posted top marks and ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks.
Omar posted a time of 8:05.13 in the 3,000m run, breaking the school record. His time in the event earned him a first place finish, a full two seconds ahead of second place.
A trio of Retrievers posted sub 50-second times in the 400m dash. Erick Soetje led the pack with a 12th place finish in a time of 49.22. Niko Coaxum (49.58) and Darrius Oxley (49.83) finished 15th and 16th respectively.
Ty Thronson hit an IC4A qualifying mark in the 800m run, finishing tenth in a time of 1:54.18. Urgy Eado took home sixth place in the mile, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:16.14.
In the field, Isahq Rana led the Retrievers with a fourth place finish in the shot put, tossing a 16.45m throw.
On the women's side, Mercedes Tillman led the pack, posting the fifth fastest time in the 200m dash with a time of 25.07 to finish eighth.
Four Retrievers finished in the top 15 of the 3,000m run led by Sophia Cologer. Cologer posted a ninth place finish in a time of 10:14.70. Cologer was followed by Angel Bucci (10:21.52), Harmony Roche (10:23.17) and Olivia Richter (10:24.29) in tenth, 11th and 12th.
Ozi Edokobi led the field events with an ECAC qualifying mark of 13.90m in the shot put. Jean Udo took seventh in the triple jump, with her best jump at 11.14m.
UMBC returns to action at the Fastrack Nation Qualifier next Friday, Feb. 19 in Staten Island.
