Worcester, Mass.—Junior Emily Escobedo broke the meet, conference and school record in the 200 IM on day two of the America East Championships. The Retrievers sit in second place after two days.
After setting the conference, meet and school record in the prelims with a time of 1:57.03, the New York native turned in a time of 1:57.32 in the finals to take gold. Classmate Kayla Lilly finished second, turning in a time of 2:03.77. Rookies Laura Massicotte (2:05.25) and Natalie Davis (2:06.90) finished fourth and sixth respectively.
Kristie Langford took silver in the 50 free, touching in at 23.63. In the other individual race, Hania Moro and Carly Waters finished sixth and seventh in the "A" finals with times of 4:59.24 and 5:01.90 in the 500 free. Right behind them was Stephaine Romano in a time of 5:02.79. Alissa Caulfield took second (tenth overall) in the "B" finals with a time of 5:02.15.
The quartet of Catherine Frediani, Lauren Day, Emily Escobedo and Kristie Langford took third in the 200 free relay, touching the wall in a time of 1:34.46.
New Hampshire continues to lead the field with 299 points. UMBC is just 17 points back in second place with 282. Vermont (240), Maine (165) and Binghamton (116) round out the field.
Day three continues tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
