BALTIMORE – Due to field conditions, the UMBC softball team was forced to cancel its doubleheader against Delaware State on Tuesday, March 10 and reschedule its single game against Howard on Wednesday, March 11. The Retrievers will now face the Lady Bison at 1:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C., at Nationals Junior Park.

SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS (2-8): UMBC returns to action for the first time since Feb. 28, when it picked up its first two victories of the season in Savannah, Ga., against Morehead State and East Tennessee State. Freshman Tori Alexander leads the squad with 10 hits and a .476 batting average. Senior Taylor Hall and sophomore Kaelin Jackson have combined for seven extra base hits and 10 runs batted in. In the circle, sophomore Jessica Holte has tossed a team-high 31.2 innings pitched and 24 strikeouts. Senior Miranda Clark has allowed opponents to a team-best .211 batting average.

SCOUTING THE LADY BISON (2-15): Howard has played on the road for each of the first 17 games of the season, including a four game tournament at UC Riverside Tournament this past weekend. Senior Al' Asia Davis and sophomore Imani Ballard are each batting a team-high .326 on the season. Davis has a team-best five doubles on the year, while Ballard has driven in 10 runs. In the circle, junior Janessa Flynn has started 11 contests and has posted a 2-9 record.
