Durham, N.H.— UMBC men's basketball fell 80-46 at UNH on Saturday afternoon. Junior Cody Joyce led the Retrievers with 14 points.

New Hampshire (14-10, 7-4 AE) got out of the gates quick against the Retrievers (3-20, 1-9 AE), going on an 8-0 run to start the game. UMBC would get their first points of the game thanks in part ot a Malcolm Brent (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) three with 15:20 on the clock.

Brent would hit another trifecta that would cut into the Wildcat lead at 17-11 at the under 12 media timeout. From there, UNH would extend the lead to 11 points, going on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 26-15.

The Retrievers would score just three points the rest of the half, going a span of five minutes between points. UNH would close the half on a 15-3 spurt to take a 41-18 lead into the break.

Brent paced the attack in the first half, scoring eight points on 3-4 (2-3 from three) shooting in the half. Junior post Cody Joyce (Chruchton, Md./Southern) added four points, and freshman point Jourdan Grant (Bowie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) chipped in three points and five boards.

It was much of the same in the second half, as UNH came out firing early. The Wildcats would extend the lead to as much as 30, before the Retrievers would find their stroke. Grant and Joyce led the charge, as Grant would score seven of his ten points in a five minute span.

The Wildcats would hold on to win, 80-46, getting the lead to as much as 34 late in the half.

UMBC was led by Joyce, who poured in 14 points, grabbing three rebounds. Senior Devarick Houston (Jonesboro, Ga./Mays) had 11 and three boards. Grant chipped in ten points and a team high eight rebounds.

The Retrievers are back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 11 when they host Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m.
