UMBC completes a two-game New England swing with a contest at league upstart New Hampshire at Lundholm Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1:00 p.m. The Retrievers have won four times in 11 previous contests in Durham. RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC (3-19, 1-8 AE) led for much of the first half, but committed 11 second-half turnovers and managed only 17 points in a 67-51 loss at U Mass Lowell on Thursday evening. Freshman guard Malcolm Brent led UMBC with 15 points and junior post Cody Joyce added 14 points and a game-high nine caroms. Joyce, now the team leader with 12.5 points per game, averages 15.8 points per game versus America East competition. Freshman post Jakob Stenhede helped UMBC to a 35-29 rebounding edge over UML with a season-best seven rebounds.
WILDCAT UPDATE: Sophomore Jacoby Armstrong matched his career-high with 18 points and his team mounted a fierce late rally, but it was not quite enough as UNH dropped a heartbreaking 63-62 decision to America East-leading University at Albany at SEFCU Arena on Feb. 4. The loss snapped UNH's longest winning streak in 20 years at five games. The Wildcats are now 13-10 overall and 6-4 in the America East. Three Wildcats average in double figures, led by freshman forward Tanner Leissner, who scores 13.1 points per game and also averages a team-best 7.2 caroms per outing.
