Men's Basketball Opens Second Half of AE Play at UML Thursday Evening

UMBC at UMass Lowell Game Notes, Feb. 5, 2015

UMBC opens the second half of America East play the same way the started the first half with games versus UMass Lowell and New Hampshire. The Retrievers will travel to New England for both games, starting with a contest against the River Hawks at Costello Athletic Center on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m. The live stat link will be available via www.umbcretrievers.com and streaming is accessible on www.americaeast.tv.    

 

RETRIEVER UPDATE: UMBC (3-18, 1-7 AE) has been off since a 68-56 loss to Binghamton on Jan. 28. Freshman guard Jourdan Grant scored a season-best 20 points and sophomore walk-on guard Ben Grace smashed his career-best with 17 points, hitting five shots from beyond the arc. Grant continues to lead America East in assists per game (4.0) and is averaging 12.0 points per game in league play. Junior post Cody Joyce, now the team leader with 12.4 points per game, averages 16.0 points per game versus America East competition.

 

RIVER HAWK UPDATE:  UML has dropped five in a row, including a pair in overtime, to drop to 9-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The River Hawks lost a narrow 76-69 decision at Binghamton on Jan. 31. BU hit 14-of-17 second half field goal attempts to  post the victory. UML freshman Jahad Thomas had a monster effort, scoring 20 points (10-of-14 fg) and adding 10 rebounds. Thomas leads the River Hawks with 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per outing.  

 

WHO'S UP NEXT:  UMBC stays up north with a contest at UNH on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
