Baltimore, Md.—The Retrievers got behind early, but fought back after a pair of goals to force overtime before Vermont got the game winner with 1:17 left in the second overtime for the win. The loss drops the Retrievers to 3-8-2, 1-1-1 AE while the Catamounts move to 5-5-1, 2-1-0 AE on the year.

The opening half saw the Retrievers get a pair of opportunities early from Desinee Morris (La Plata, Md./La Plata), but both attempts on goal were stopped by Vermont keeper Ally Ramos. The Catamounts would strike first, getting a goal with 22:57 showing on the clock. Sarah Martin put a shot on net that caromed off the post and into the net, giving Vermont a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw a different Retriever team, as UMBC dominated play for most of the half. Vermont would go up 2-0 after a goal with 34:08 left in regulation. The Retrievers would answer, scoring off a Gabby Boehmer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) goal from about 25 yards out. The shot floated over Ramos to cut the deficit to 2-1. UMBC would tie the game just six minutes later, as Preslie Quaranta (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) would receive a beautiful feed from freshman Fern Peters (Columbia, Md./Howard) just in front of the goal to tie at 2-2.

The match would head to overtime, with neither side producing much in the first stanza. It would be Vermont late in the second overtime, who got a goal from Martin again with 1:17 to win. The loss dropped the Retrievers to 3-8-2, 1-1-1 AE on the year.
