Men's Basketball Visits Towson on Tuesday Evening

In its 47-year varsity basketball history, the Towson Tigers are UMBC's most frequently-contested opponent and the two squads will meet for the 55th time on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at SECU Arena. The game is the fifth in a row for UMBC versus Baltimore-Washington area rivals. Tip-off time is set for 7:30 p.m. and Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier bring fans all the play-by-play action on Q1370 radio or www.q1370.com.

RETRIEVER UPDATE:  After playing an NCAA-record tying four consecutive overtime games, UMBC (2-4) shot a season-low 31 percent from the field in a 73-58 loss at Navy on Saturday. Senior wing Chase Plummer scored in double figures for the third consecutive game and led the visitors with 11 points. He also snared a team-high seven rebounds and moved into tenth place on UMBC's all-time caroms list (562). Freshman guard Rodney Elliott continues to lead the Retrievers in scoring, now at 14.3 points per game.

TIGER UPDATE:  Towson (3-2) won its first three outings, all at home, easily handling Navy (72-45) and Morgan State (95-75) before outlasting Temple, 75-69. They have since played national powers Villanova (L, 78-44) and Kansas (L, 88-58) on the road, dropping those two contests.  SR power forward Jerrelle Benimon paces the Tigers in scoring (18.2) and rebounding (11.4).

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Tigers lead the all-time series, 34-20, but UMBC has captured the last two meetings. Ryan Cook scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the second half andBrett Roseboro posted a career high 19 points and added 10 rebounds as the host Retrievers never trailed in a 66-62 victory over Towson on Dec 1, 2012. Roseboro hit 9-of-11 shots from the floor before fouling out with 28 seconds remaining. Chase Plummer also posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

WHO'S UP NEXT:  UMBC will have its first extended break of the season through the Thanksgiving holiday, returning to action on Monday, Dec. 2, when they welcome UMES to the RAC Arena.
