Deller Takes Fifth in Shot Put at Day One of IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass.—The UMBC men's and women's track and field teams have completed action at Day One of the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships.

 

CORECTION: Previous women's ECAC results that had been reported were incorrect, correct results are now posted.

 

Senior Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) broke the school record in the men's 800-meter run in 25th with a time of 1:52.78, while freshmen Andrew Smith (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Jake Albino (Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) finished 42nd and 50th overall.

 

Sophomore Amanda Deller (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) finished fifth in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.10m (46'-3.25").

 

Senior Keith Onto (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro/St. Francis (PA)) is eighth in the men's heptathlon with 2,727 points and three events remaining on Sunday.

 

Junior Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) qualified for the finals of the men's 500-meter dash with a time of 1:03.65, while fellow junior Roy Jones (New Market, Md./Linganore) placed 25th in the men's 1,000-meter run in 2:30.25.

 

Senior Chris Snyder (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg) placed 21st in the men's 1-mile run in 4:11.13.

 

The action continues Sunday at 11 a.m.
