Washington, D.C. – The UMBC men's tennis team won its
fourth straight match with a 6-1 decision over host Howard
University on Friday, March 18. The Retrievers head to Florida for
a pair of matches over spring break with a record of 9-3.
UMBC swept all the doubles matches in convincing fashion before
capturing five of six singles contests. The Retrievers were
especially strong at the 2-3-4 slot, as junior No. 2 Rasid
Winklaar(Willemstad, Curacao) overwhelmed Devard Wharton, 6-0,
6-1, junior No. 3 Joe
Adewumi (Phoenix, Ariz.) defeated George Diggs, 6-0,
2-0,ret., and sophomore Adam
Duprat (Bobigny, France) took out Eric Chavous, 6-0,
6-2.
UMBC will face Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, March 21 in Fort
Myers, Fla.
