Boston, Mass.—Boston University senior wing John Holland
scored 24 points and lead the host Terriers to a 85-53 America East
victory over UMBC.
The Terriers (15-13, 10-4) won their fifth straight game and
avenged UMBC's 71-67 win over Boston U. last month.
For the third consecutive game, the Retrievers were badly
outplayed in the first half. After a Chris De La
Rosa (Washington Heights, N.Y.) jumper sliced UMBC's
deficit to 14-11 at the 13:38 mark, the Terriers went on a 13-0 run
over the several minutes and took a 27-11 advantage with 9:17
remaining. Boston U. hit six of their first 12 shots from behind
the arc in the first 20 minutes and led, 42-24 at the break.
Darryl Partin, who added 23 points, scored 11 of the Terriers'
first 20 points of the half and Boston U. cruised to the
victory.
De La Rosa led UMBC with 11 points. Sophomore forward Adrian
Satchell (Windsor, Conn.) was UMBC's America East Player
of the Game with six of seven points scored in the first half.
Freshman wing Matt
Conway (Sarasota, Fla.) hit two treys for a season-best
six points.
UMBC (5-22, 4-10) will conclude the home schedule vs. Hartford
on Saturday, Feb. 19.
