COLLEGE PARK, Md.—Two UMBC all-time top 10 times and
numerous career-best times by the UMBC swimming and diving team
highlighted Day One of the Terrapin Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Patrick Husson (Camp Springs, Md./DeMatha)
took gold in the men's 100-yard breaststroke in a time of
58.46. His prelim time of 58.06 is the 10th-fastest time in school
history. Sophomore Preston Donovan (Ellicott City,
Md./Mt. Hebron) finished third in the men's 200 butterfly in
a time of 1:50.86, the eighth-fastest time in UMBC history.
Sophomore Anna Plunkett (Orchard Park, N.Y./Nardin
Academy) earned silver in the women's 200 fly in a
career-best time of 2:04.36, while fellow sophomore Patrick
Bryan(Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) finished the men's 500 free
prelim in 4:43.83, also a career-best time.
Junior Evan Danz (Woodstock, Md./Loyola Blakefield)
swam 46.41 in the 100 free in prelims, a career-best time, while
junior Andrew Reid (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) and
sophomore Brian Keane (Hanson, Mass./Boston College
HS/Arizona) also swam career-bests in 47.31 and 47.49,
respectively.
Senior Mitchell Donovan (Ellicott City,
Md./Centennial) finished the 200 fly in a career-best time of
1:53.80.
The Retrievers return to action tomorrow for the final day of
the Terrapin Invitational.
