CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Freshman Ali Goc (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada/R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate) has been named America East Volleyball Rookie of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 5, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Goc started each of her first four games of her collegiate career, leading the Retrievers to a 2-2 week to open the season. She led all America East rookies last week in kills (3.00 kps) and points (3.67 pps), while also tallying six total blocks, five service aces and 18 digs (1.5 dps).
In her debut performance against Coppin State, Goc recorded 12 kills against just one error for .458 hitting efficiency. She also finished the match with two assists, four aces, three digs and two block assists for a well-rounded outing. Against Loyola, Goc registered seven kills, 10 digs and three block assists. To finish the weekend, the freshman earned a new career high with 14 kills on .310 hitting at Morgan State. She added one more ace, three digs and a block assist in the finale.
