Box Score

DURHAM, N.H. - The UMBC women's lacrosse team (8-4, 1-1 AE) saw its six-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon in a 16-8 loss to America East rival New Hampshire (7-3, 1-0 AE) at Memorial Field.

The Wildcats led by just one, 4-3, with 17:00 remaining in the first half, but UNH attack JoJo Curro's third goal of the game sparked a 5-2 run that gave the hosts a 9-5 lead at halftime.

New Hampshire scored the first five goals of the second stanza to take a game-high 14-5 advantage with 7:42 left before the Retrievers scored three in a row to pull to within six at 14-8, but the Wildcats tallied the final two goals of the game.

Sophomore attack Alicia Krause (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron/Duquesne) led the Retrievers with three points on two goals and an assists, while junior midfielder Ashley Stodter (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) also scored twice. Junior midfielder Amanda Pappas (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was named UMBC's America East Player of the Game with a goal, an assist and three draw controls.

Curro earned her team's Player of the Game nod with six goals.

UMBC senior goalie Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) recorded seven saves, while UNH keeper Kathleen O'Keefe stopped eight shots.

The Wildcats outshot the Retrievers, 29-25, but UMBC held a 13-12 advantage on draw controls.

The 16 goals are the most allowed by the Retrievers since a 17-10 loss to No. 13 Vanderbilt on Feb. 27, and the eight goals are the fewest UMBC has scored since a 15-7 loss to No. 17 Towson on March 3.

The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday, April 7, when they host America East rival Vermont.
