Track and Field Opens 2010-11 Indoor Season with Three Wins at Bison Opener

LEWISBURG, Md.--The UMBC men's and women's indoor track and field teams began their 2010-11 season at the Bison Opener Saturday. Sophomore Amanda Deller won the women's weight throw (16.50m) and earned silver in the shot put (13.98m), while sophomore TJ Cowing won the men's 1-mile run in 4:26.56 and freshman Mo Drammeh won the men's high jump with a leap of 2.01m.

Junior Imani Colbert earned silver in the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.75, while sophomore Chowan Brightful was second in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.60m.

Junior Laura Walker tied her own UMBC record in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.15m.

Senior Keith Brown took home bronze in the men's 60-meter hurdles, while junior Joshua Hewitson earned bronze in the men's 800-meter run in 1:57.03.

The Retrievers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 8 for the Gulden Relays in Lewisburg, Pa.
