BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team fell to America East
rival Stony Brook, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-21, Friday night at the RAC.
The Retrievers participated in the Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink
Campaign, raising over $1,100 to help support the fight against
breast cancer.
The Retrievers were led by senior Sabrina Hoeks
(Olympia, Wash./AG West Black Hills), who had 11 kills and seven
digs, while freshman Ali Goc (Oshawa,
Ontario, Canada/ R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate) added 10 kills and six
digs.
Junior Iman Kennedy
(Charlotte, N.C./Independence), fresh off a 17-kill effort against
Binghamton, hit .300 with nine kills. Freshman Emily
Vandegrift (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) had a game-high five
total blocks, while fellow freshman Hallie
Carter (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) tallied a game-high 11
digs.
The Seawolves outhit the Retrievers, .346 to .243 and led in
digs, 46-32.
The Retrievers return to action Sunday when they face America
East foe Hartford at 2 p.m. at the RAC.
