Women's Soccer Season Ends with 2-0 Loss at Hartford

Box Score

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.—Two Hartford goals less than five minutes apart propelled the Hawks (6-8-3, 3-2-2 AE) to a 2-0 victory over the UMBC women's soccer team (2-14-1, 1-7-0 AE) at Al-Marzook Field in the Retrievers' season finale.

At the 13:34 mark, Hartford forward Amelia Pereira sent a pass to forward Alex Uscilla from just inside the box, and Uscilla shot the ball straight on from eight yards out to put the Hawks on the board. Then at 18:28, forward Caroline Dixon sent a pass along the right side, which midfielder Lizzy Clarke converted from 25 yards out for an insurance goal.

After allowing 11 shots in the first half, the Retriever defense held the Hawks to just three shots in the second period. Hartford outshot UMBC, 14-4, in the game, and freshman midfielder Nicole Clark (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) took three of the Retrievers' four shots and was named America East Player of the Game for the visitors. Uscilla earned the honor for the home team.

UMBC freshman goalie Lauren Kadet (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made five saves and finished with 108 on the season, the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. Lauren Brodeur made three saves in net for Hartford.
