Box Score BALTIMORE—The UMBC volleyball team's three-match winning
streak came to an end Wednesday, falling to American, 25-18, 25-19
and 25-17, at the RAC. With the loss, the Retrievers fall to 8-13,
while the Eagles improved to 20-2.
Junior setter Allie Spaay
(Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Tremper) became the 10th Retriever to record
1,000 assists, as she recorded 26 assists and six digs. She now has
1,004 for her career.
Senior Sabrina Hoeks
(Olympia, Wash./AG West Black Hills) led the team with 10 kills,
while two freshmen, Hallie
Carter (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison) and Kat Lincalis
(Halethorpe, Md./Towson) each had a team-high nine digs.
The Eagles were led by Angelina Waterman, who hit .543 with 20
kills and just one error.
American out UMBC .286 to .135, and held an 8-2 advantage in
service aces.
The Retrievers return to action Oct. 29 at Binghamton at 6
p.m.
