Women's Swimming and Diving Third After Day One of College Conference Carnival at Rutgers Friday Night

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The UMBC women's swimming and diving team is third with 78 points after Day One of the prestigious Swimming World Magazine College Conference Carnival in New Brunswick, N.J. on the campus of Rutgers University Friday night.

Senior Sam Maccherola (Woolford, Md./South Carroll/Tennessee) claimed bronze in the 500 free in a time of 5:02.06, while she placed fourth in the 100 free in 52.61.

Fellow senior Jennifer Esposito (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst/C.W. Post) also earned a bronze medal in the 200 fly in a season-best time of 2:01.93.

The Retrievers continue the College Conference Carnival tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. before heading up with the men's squad to face Marist Sunday at noon.
