UMBC Volleyball Drops Home Finale to Binghamton, 3-0, Saturday Night

BALTIMORE - The UMBC volleyball team dropped its 2009 home finale to Binghamton, 3-0, Saturday night at the RAC. With the loss, the Retrievers drop to 13-11 on the season and 5-4 in America East play, while the Bearcats improve to 12-14 and 4-5 in conference action.

The Bearcats outhit the Retrievers, .291-.059 and earned eight blocks to UMBC's two on their way to a 25-18, 25-17 and 25-20 win.

"We got away from playing the type of volleyball that helped us succeed earlier in the season," head coach Ian Blanchard said. "We didn't do a lot of the little things necessary to win."

Sophomore Alyssa Lang (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) earned her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs, while senior Pam Jarrett (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Pius X) led the Retrievers with 13 digs.

The Retrievers return to action next Sunday when they play at New Hampshire in their 2009 regular season finale at 2 p.m.
