-The UMBC women's soccer team (3-6-1, 0-1-0 AEC) dropped its America East Conference opener, 1-0, to host New Hampshire (3-5-0, 1-0-0 AEC) Sunday afternoon at Lewis Field. The Retrievers have now been shut out in three straight contests and are mired in a four-game losing streak.
After a scoreless first half, Wildcat forward Michelle Sheehan scored the game's lone goal in the 54th minute of play. Kelly Collins delivered the feed to Sheehan from seven yards out.
UMBC senior goalie Robin Babaris recorded a season-high nine saves in the loss, while New Hampshire keeper Lynn Gugliuzza posted her third shutout of the season with one save.
The Wildcats out-shot the Retrievers, 20-6, and held a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.
The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 27, when they head to Washington, D.C., to take on local rival Howard at 3 p.m.
