UMBC WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS MARSHALL ON FRIDAY

Baltimore, Md. – The Retriever women's soccer team will take on Marshall for a non-conference game on Friday, September 24 at 4 p.m. at the UMBC Soccer Stadium. It will be the Retrievers' last match before taking a week-long break to prepare for the America East opener at Maine on October 1.

UMBC (4-3-0) recently enjoyed a 5-0 win over Delaware State, where five different Retrievers found the back of the net. In addition, UMBC has gone 3-1 in its last four games, with each win coming by way of a shutout. Currently, the team is led by freshman J.J. Young (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), who has a team-best 23 shots and eight points. Junior Kelly Fiorani (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) leads the squad in assists with three.

Marshall (2-4-3, 0-3-1 MAC) fell to Toledo last Friday, 3-1, before managing a 1-1 tie at Bowling Green on Sunday. Continuing to pace the conference in saves is senior goalkeeper Ashleigh Woods (Penfield, N.Y.). Woods, who has 60 stops thus far, needs one shutout to become the all-time leader at Marshall. The 5'11" keeper has 8.5 in her career.

The meeting between the Retrievers and the Herd will be the first in program history.
