Loretto, PA--St. Francis pulled away late in the game and defeated a valiant UMBC women's basketball team, 58-41, to win the league title in Loretto, PA. It is St. Francis' sixth title in seven years. The Retrievers rallied from a six point first half deficit to tie the game at 25-all late in the first half. But St. Francis hit a three-point goal and led, 28-25 at intermission. UMBC stayed close early in the second half, but the Red Flash gradually pulled away, as UMBC shot just 28% from the floor in the second half. Shalayna Johnson led UMBC with 11 points, but hit just 1 of 7 from three-point range. Milette Green added 9 points and 9 rebounds. The Retrievers finish the season 14-16, but competed in the school's first league championship game in the men's or women's basketball.
