The host UMBC Retrievers found the back of the net a school-record twelve times in their 12-0, non-league victory over Delaware State on Sunday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Pitch. It was the second consecutive win for the Retrievers, who are now 3-4. The Hornets dropped to 0-5.
Sophomore Missy Moore scored the first of her game-high three goals at 4:28 and the Retrievers added three more goals in a span of 1:54 to grab a 4-0 lead at the 7:05 mark. Freshman midfielder Kerie Sample, senior midfielder Laura Motley, and sophomore forward Lauren Cunningham all tallied during the stretch. Cunningham, freshman forward Tricia Adkinson, and sophomore forward Roula Adams followed with goals to make it 7-0 at the half.
Moore added two more goals in the second half and was aided by scores from senior midfielder Milana Ward, junior midfielder Lori Quintavalle, and another tally by Adkinson.
UMBC outshot the Hornets by a 39-0 margin. Freshman Robin Babaris and sophomore Kelly Lizon each play 45 minutes in net for UMBC.
Motley and senior midfielder Caitlin Kinsella each recorded a pair of assists in the match.
