American University scored three goals in the final eleven minutes and went on to defeat UMBC, 4-1, in women's soccer action in Washington, DC.
UMBC trailed, 1-0, at halftime, but Jessa Karko beat the AU netminder on a one-on-one chance to tie the score at the 50:35 mark. But AU's Savannah Rennels tallied at 79:21 and AU added goals in the 82nd and 87th minutes to ice the victory.
AU outshot UMBC, 15-5, as the Retrievers dropped to 1-4. Robin Babaris (1ga, 2 saves) and Becky Hicock (3ga, 4 saves) split the goalkeeping chores for UMBC.
