UMBC senior Caroline Sargent (Trumbull, Conn.) collected her fourth gold medal of the weekend as the women's swimming and diving team repeated as runners-up at the 2022 America East Championships on Sunday.
 
Sargent earned the meet's Outstanding Swimmer Award, as she set an America East record and won the elusive 200 backstroke over the three-time defending champion, UNH's Anna Metzler. Sargent completed the race in 1:56.14, setting the only women's record to be broken in the championships.

"I am very honored and excited to be named Swimmer of the Meet," said Sargent. "I am really grateful for my teammates and coaches for pushing me and I can't wait to see what comes next.  It was really exciting to have a more normal competition format this year and be able to compete and cheer together again. The team put in a lot of great work this year, so it was great to have a chance to see the results together."
 
Sargent won both backstroke events, and was also part of UMBC's 200 and 400 winning medley relay squad.
