Marie Abongwa, who won the shot put at the America East Indoor Championships this past winter, is the UMBC Athlete of the Week after she picked up 10 points by winning the event again with an effort of 13.68 meters (44'10.75"). In addition, she placed third in the hammer with a school-record toss of 55.20 meters (181'1").  Abongwa was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the conclusion of the event.
