Bruna de Padua (Curitiba, Brazil) is the UMBC Athlete of the Week after the America East Conference named the sophomore as the league's inaugural Swimmer of the Week for the 2023-24 season.

The Retriever newcomer won a pair of golds in the distance freestyle events in the meet versus La Salle on Oct. 7. She captured the 1000 freestyle in 10:42.90, then came back to easily outdistance the field in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:11.58.

de Pauda now has three victories on the young season for UMBC, as she debuted with a victory at American University in the 1000 on Sept. 30.
