UMBC sophomore Liam Meginniss is the UMBC Athlete of the Week after he downright kicked the door down on the competing field, going from fifth in the waning meters to gold, breaking his own school record in the 1000 meters as UMBC wrapped up competition in the America East Championships.

Evoking memories of his sixth-to-first victory in last season's 800 meter outdoor victory, Meginniss broke his own school record, crossing the line all by himself in a time of 2:24.54.

He finished the afternoon swinging for the fences, leading a dominant 4x800 meter relay victory. Accompanied by senior Zachary Taylor and freshmen Aidan Lundberg, and Tyler Edson, the Retrievers combined for a school record of 7:32.20, two seconds short of America East all-time leading recognition
