Tyler Skoniecki joined UMBC Athletics in July 2026. 

Prior to joining UMBC, Tyler served as a graduate athletic trainer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he supported the women's soccer program and the men's tennis team. During his time at Carolina, he was part of the 2024 National Championship-winning Tar Heels women’s soccer program. 

Tyler earned a Master of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His graduate research examined the epidemiology and prevention of catastrophic baseball injuries through the application of the Haddon Injury Prevention Model. Tyler completed his undergraduate education at Duquesne University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.

He is certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC), is a licensed athletic trainer, and a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT). Tyler is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). In his free time, Tyler enjoys distance running, skiing, and ice hockey. He is also an active volunteer firefighter and an Eagle Scout.
