Kennedy Evans '24, a former captain of the Retriever women's lacrosse team, was appointed as the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach in August of 2025.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kennedy to our staff in a full-time role," Head Coach Amy Slade stated. "As a player, she demonstrated remarkable leadership, setting a standard for our program through her work ethic, accountability, and ability to unite her teammates. Kennedy was the type of player that everyone admired, and this same leadership has naturally transitioned into her coaching. She brings a unique dynamic to our staff with her perspective, energy, and passion for UMBC Lacrosse, and we are excited about the continued impact she will have on our program."
Evans previously served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Retrievers in the spring of 2025, where she contributed to various aspects of the program, including operations, recruiting, event planning, and team communications.
Hailing from Mount Airy, Maryland, Evans was a standout four-year student-athlete at UMBC. She earned America East All-Conference honors four times, including two selections to the First Team. Additionally, she holds the record for the most caused turnovers in Retrievers history, as well as the single-season record in that category.
Evans graduated Magna Cum Laude from UMBC in 2024, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication Studies, along with a minor in Management of Aging Services. In May 2024, she received the America East Conference's Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award and was named to the Dean's List and President's List in five separate semesters.
Evans has also worked as a part-time Assistant Coach with the True Lacrosse Tournament Club, where she mentored young players in the fundamentals of the game, skill development, and overall game understanding.
