UMBC Director of Athletics Brian Barrio announced the hiring of Kelly Rose Peloquin as the Retrievers’ associate athletics director, facilities and events management in February, 2023.

The Baltimore native has been serving as athletics director at CUNY/Bronx Community College since August 2022. She began her tenure at BCC as associate athletics director/aquatics director in February 2018.  While her focus was largely on the operations and management of the college’s reconstructed 25-meter indoor pool, she assisted athletics in game management and compliance, among other areas critical to the Broncos’ success.

From 2012-18, Peloquin served as a team manager and swim coach at Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, Manhattan’s premier competitive swimming program.

As a member of North Baltimore Aquatic Club, home of many past and present Olympians, she achieved a National Age Group Record and Senior National time standards. Kelly also swam for McDonogh (Md.) High School and helped her team win the state championships while receiving All-American status for four consecutive years.

She earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Miami (Fla.) and graduated with a degree in sport administration and business. Along with participation in collegiate athletics, Kelly spent summers coaching and developed an interest in non-profit organizations. Over the course of her senior year in college and upon graduation, she worked for several foundations including; Alonzo Mourning Charities, H20s Foundation, and The John Taylor Babbitt Foundation.

Peloquin will serve as the sport supervisor for the volleyball and men’s lacrosse programs.

"Adding Kelly to the Retriever Athletics team will benefit all of our teams and all of our student-athletes,” said Barrio. “Kelly's broad experience in college athletics and her demonstrated integrity and work ethic will make us better in the important areas of game operations and facility management."
