Joseph Clampitt serves as Acting Chief Financial Officer for UMBC Athletics, where he oversees the financial operations of a department spanning intercollegiate athletics, recreation, and physical education. A proud UMBC alumnus, Clampitt returned to his alma mater to lead the department's annual budget development and management, direct the financial planning and analysis that guides long-term resource decisions, and partner with the Athletic Director and senior leadership to translate financial data into strategic action.

His responsibilities include negotiating and administering vendor and contract agreements, safeguarding fiscal compliance with university and NCAA guidelines, and producing the reporting and analysis that inform decision-making across the department.

Clampitt joined UMBC's Office of Contracts and Grants before stepping into his current role, and he brings prior experience from the private sector, where he built his foundation in finance. He holds a bachelor's degree from UMBC.

As both a Retriever and the department's central financial steward, Clampitt combines an insider's commitment to the university with the financial discipline to align resources with UMBC's competitive and institutional goals.
