Jerron Pearson was appointed by Brian Barrio to serve as the Associate Athletics Director for Administration in the fall of 2022. Pearson, who previously worked for Retriever Athletics from 2010-13, has twelve years of full-time administrative experience within the legislative, legal, and social spheres of collegiate athletics.Â

He holds a bachelor’s of science in accounting and business administration and management from the University of Maine (2009) and has an M.B.A in business administration from the University of Maryland, University College (2013).Â

Pearson will have sport oversight for the UMBC women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse programs. He will also oversee the human resources and payroll operations for the department and all department equity, diversity and professional development programming for staff.Â

Pearson will serve as the staff liaison to the UMBC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).Â

During his undergraduate studies, Pearson was a scholarship student-athlete football player for the University of Maine and earned 2007 CAA Academic All-Conference honors. He then began his career at UMBC in 2010, where he managed all aspects of eligibility and was an athletics liaison for admissions as the coordinator for compliance and student services until 2013.Â

In 2013, Pearson transitioned to the University of Massachusetts, Lowell where he sat as the assistant director of compliance and student-welfare. There, he managed responsibilities with the NCAA Division I compliance office, supervised the implementation of new institutional policies and developed a Division I culture at Lowell.Â

Pearson then spent a year at Boston College, serving as the associate director for compliance and financial services. He oversaw welfare and student-athlete experience for the Eagles, managing financial aid, NCAA report submissions, as well as eligibility and scholarship management until 2016.Â
Â
Prior to joining the staff at UMBC, Pearson served as the assistant athletic director for compliance at Loyola University of Maryland. He managed all of the day-to-day Patriot League institution’s compliance responsibilities and was a liaison for education and implementation of Name, Image and Likeness Legislation (NIL).Â
