Cambria Winkel comes to UMBC after three years of working in higher education at Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. During her time at JHUM, she worked with the Government, Community, and Economic Partnerships department as an administrative specialist, where she managed multiple executives across Maryland and Baltimore City government affairs teams. Cambria’s tenure at Johns Hopkins where she managed the organization’s agenda during the state legislative session. Her success in creating relationships with state officials proved instrumental, in addition to her operation management that ensured increased fiscal efficiency. One of her favorite moments from Johns Hopkins was the planning and execution of the Ivy Plus State and Local Government Affairs Conference where she hosted over 20 Ivy League government affairs vice presidents and directors on the Johns Hopkins campus.

Prior to her time in higher education, Cambria gained a wealth of business experience across different environments. She served as the first quality assurance associate at Curaleaf, managing the quality control efforts at the production facility and helping them to obtain their first GMP certification. She also brings over five years of experience managing dental practices where she was tasked with managing every aspect of the operations including supervision of the team, managing budgets, and all communication efforts.

Cambria graduated from Howard Community College in 2022 with an associate’s degree in business administration where she also worked as an intern with the athletics department. She has a Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification from the Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School. Cambria is a notary public in the state of Maryland, in addition to an International Wedding and Event Planners certification and a cosmetologist in the state of Pennsylvania since 2013.

In addition to her career, Cambria has a long history of community service. She serves on the PTSA board for Wilde Lake High School as the vice president well as serving on the board Wilde Lake High School band boosters. She previously served on the executive board for the Sykesville Raiders Youth Football & Cheer, where she coached her daughter and her national champion winning cheer squad.
