Biography

2022 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION 

·       Earned silver in the 100 butterfly and recorded the top time in the under-19 age category in three additional events at the Egyptian National Championships in March

2022-23

  • Won the “B” final of the 200 butterfly at the America East Championships
  • Captured the 100 fly in UMBC’s win at Howard
  • Finished 14th of 41 swimmers in the 200 butterfly at the ECAC Winter Championships

2021-22

·       Named Rookie of the Meet at the 2022 America East Championships 

·       Placed third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 200 IM and 200 butterfly in Worcester; all were her personal best times  

·       Debuted with a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly at Navy

BACKGROUND

  • Broke the 200 IM national record (U14) in the 2017 Egyptian Swimming Championships and the national mark in the 200 butterfly (U18) in the 2017 Junior All-African Games
  • Part of Egyptian squad which won the 2017 Junior African Championships
  • Considering a major in business technology administration and would like to open a swimming academy   
  • Also considered Fairfield, LaSalle and UNC Asheville, but selected UMBC “because of its location and the great academic and athletic programs”
  • Lists favorite movie as Divergent
  • Daughter of Dalia Hossam and Diaaeldine Abdelaim and has a younger sister, Lamar
