Jeff Fisher joined the UMBC staff as its head diving coach in August, 2021.
He debuted by earning Diving Coach of the Meet as the Retriever men won the ECAC Winter Championships. Junior Will Henrickson won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions to earn Diver of the Meet accolades.Â
The entire UMBC swimming and diving staff earned America East Men's Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff of the Meet in leading the team to the league title.Â
Fisher spent 14 years (2000-14) as assistant age group developmental and competition diving coach at the Mile High Dive Club in Denver, Colo. He helped develop the program and coached age group athletes between the ages of 5-18 in developmental and competitive one and three-meter springboard diving.
Prior to his tenure with the club, Fisher served as high school diving coach and assistant swim coach at the Colorado High School Activities Association. He coached both girls and boys from 1996-2000 and took eight athletes to the state championships in a three-year span.
Fisher worked in the collegiate ranks at NCAA Division II Metropolitan State University of Denver during the 2001-02 campaign.
The new Retriever diving mentor earned NCAA Division II All-American honors in all four seasons at NCAA Division III powerhouse Kenyon (Ohio) College. He finished fourth nationally on the 3-meter board and sixth at the 1-meter mark during his senior campaign of 1996 as the Lords won national titles in all four of his seasons.
Fisher earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1996 and completed a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2001.
