Biography

2017: Had 23 appearances on the mound, making six starts with 69 innings pitched... Finished the season 4-3 with a 3.96 ERA and 30 strikeouts... Ranked third in the America East in walks (20), fourth in runs allowed (44), and fifth in hits allowed (86) and earned runs allowed (40)... Picked up the win, throwing 6.1 innings and only giving up two runs against Howard (Feb. 17)... Threw a season-high six strikeouts over 5.1 innings pitched against Eastern Shore (March 11).

2016: Made 16 appearances on the mound with seven starts and 63.2 innings pitched… Improved from her sophomore campaign with six complete games and 24 strikeouts... Ranked second in the America East in walks (13) and fifth in runs allowed (58)… Struck out a season-best six batters in seven innings of work against Middle Tennessee (Feb 20)… Picked up a win versus Coppin St. (March 29)… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll

2015: Made four starts and 10 appearances in the circle on the year… Threw 22.2 innings of work… Picked up a complete-game victory against Rhode Island (March 16)… Struck out a pair of batters in one inning of relief against UMES (March 25)… Tossed a hitless inning of relief versus Towson (April 23)... Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2014: Made 18 appearances in the circle for the Retrievers… Posted a 6-4 record with a 3.26 ERA… Pitched 86 innings and held opponents to a .296 batting average… Threw six complete games… Her 18 walks on the season are tied for fourth in UMBC’s single-season list for fewest walks allowed… Ranked seventh in the league in earned run average (3.26)… Earned her first collegiate victory in relief against Iona (Feb. 21)… Picked up her first complete-game victory in six innings at Norfolk State (March 2)… Tossed an eight-inning victory versus Rhode Island (March 14)… Struck out a season-best six batters versus Saint Peter’s (March 22)… Threw a five-inning shutout victory the following day versus the Peacocks… Tossed her second shutout victory in seven innings against La Salle (April 22)… Registered a pair of hits to right-center at Binghamton (April 6)… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

BACKGROUND: Competed on Hatboro-Horsham High School’s softball team… Named to the All-Intelligencer First Team as a senior… Received Second Team All-State recognition by PAHSSCA in 2013… Registered an 18-4 record with a 2.04 ERA in her final season to make First Team All-Suburban One League Continental by Suburban One Sports… Received the Athletic Leadership Award… Played club ball for Tuff N Tuffer Gold, where her pitching and hitting guided her team to a 17th-place finish in the ASA Gold Nationals over the summer… Played for the same high school as former UMBC pitcher Amy Sadowl, who currently ranks third all-time with the Retrievers in wins… A distinguished honor roll member all four years… Received the Principal’s Award… A National Honors Society member… Daughter of Robert and Susan Casagrand… Has a sister, Kristin… Majoring in psychology… Hopes to become a Physical Therapist.
