Biography

On Griffith: Is coming off knee surgery in October but appears to be at 100 percent…had a great fall season before the surgery…will see time at catcher, first base and designated hitter…best position is catcher…was hitting over .300 before a midseason hand injury that contributed to a decline in her offensive numbers…hoping to be a regular in the lineup this year.

 

2005: Started 48 of the 51 games in which she played in her first season at UMBC after transferring from Anne Arundel Community College… Hit .181 with 23 hits in 127 at-bats… Posted 14 RBI and scored 16 runs… Added one double and two triples… Walked 16 times, fourth most on the team… Committed only one error in 253 chances for a stellar .996 fielding percentage.

 

Background: Led her Anne Arundel CC team to the national championship in 2003, as she received national all-tournament team, first-team Maryland JuCo, first-team all-region, first-team all-American and Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year honors… Also earned second-team Maryland JuCo, first-team all-region, second-team all-American and national all-tournament team honors in 2004… Also lettered in basketball, where she made the Capital Gazette All-Star team for the North… Was a member of the National Honor Society and Honor Roll at Glen Burnie… Daughter of Dave and Anne Griffith… Has an older brother, Matt… Born Dec. 19, 1984… Majoring in psychology while fulfilling the requirements for the pre-physical therapy program.
