Biography

2023: Became first player in school and America East (and 99th in NCAA DI History) history to reach 1,000 career strikeouts...Concluded career with an America East record 1,023 strikeouts and ranks eighth in NCAA history with 11.36 strikeouts per seven innings...First student-athlete to win America East Pitcher of the Year four times in her career...America East All-Conference First Team as a pitcher for fourth time...National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team...All-ECAC for fourth time....First student-athlete to win America East Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year three times in her career (21-23)....Repeated as America East Softball Scholar-Athlete for fourth-straight year...America East Woman of the Year finalist...Earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the fourth consecutive season...Threw her third-career perfect game at Bryant on 4/29...Finished career with 10 no-hitters, including three perfect games...Finished career as UMBC's all-time leader in strikeouts (1,023), saves (14), ERA (1.39), shutouts (34) and lowest opponent bating average against (.142)...Was second in UMBC history in wins (62), innings (630.1) and appearances (121)...Four time America East Pitcher of the Week, including the final three weeks of the season...America East Player of the Week on 4/18...Appeared in all 43 games, starting 41..Played incredible defense in center field, making numerous diving catches and not committing an error...Was nearly unhittable in America East play, finishing with a 6-1 record, 0.67 ERA, 0.58 WHIP, 4 saves, 85 strikeouts, 8 walks, just 5 extra base hits allowed and opponents batted .127 against her..Went 3-for-4 with two homers (including a grand slam) and 5 RBI at UAlbany on 4/15...Picked up the victory in the America East Championship game, striking out 11 batters in the circle and smacking an RBI single at the plate...Was absolutely dominant in the circle in her America East Tournament Career: 12-0 (11 GS), she allowed just six earned runs in 80 innings (0.53 ERA) and struck out 116. She threw two no-hitters and also had a 33.1 inning scoreless streak in America East Tournament play that was snapped in the fourth inning of the championship game.

2021: Third-Team Academic All-American...National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team...2021 America East Female Scholar Athlete of the Year...2021 America East Softball Scholar-Athlete...CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for second-straight year...Became the first student-athlete since 2001 to repeat as America East Pitcher of the Year...America East All-Conference First Team...America East All-Academic Team..America East All-Championship Team...America East Elite 18 Award Winner for having highest GPA among student-athletes competing in the championship round...Tied for the lowest single-season ERA in program history (0.93), finished top-3 in the NCAA in ERA...Went 19-4 with one save in the circle, while hitting a career-best .313 with three homers and 19 RBI (second most RBI on the team)...Tossed her sixth career no-hitter in a 17-strikeout performance at UMass Lowell on April 24...Led the conference in all major pitching categories and was a five time #AESB Pitcher of the Week...Had double-digit strikeouts in 15 appearances...Had eight shutouts...Struck out 12 in the circle and had a double and an RBI at the plate in NCAA Tournament against Villanova...Finished with 249 strikeouts and 45 walks...Threw 18 complete-games...Had seven doubles and four stolen bases.

2020: Continued her dominance in the circle, finishing first in the NCAA with an 0.19 ERA and allowing just one earned run in 37 innings pitched...Working her way back from injury, she made eight appearances, starting three games, going 3-1 with a save...Also became one of the top offensive performers for the Retrievers as she hit a team-best three homers, tied for the team-lead in runs scored with seven and had the second-best batting average (.371)...Her eight RBI were second most on the team, as were her 13 hits...She worked three scoreless innings, striking out eight to pick up the save in the season-opener against Iona on February 21...Struck out 13 in six innings of work twice (2/29 at Lipscomb and 3/7 vs Delaware)..Had double-digit strikeouts in her final five appearances of the season...Had one of the finest games of her career against Saint Peter's on March 8, going 4-for-4 with two homers, five RBI and two runs scored at the plate, while striking out 11 and allowing just one hit, no walks an no runs in four innings of work...Earned the final two America East Pitcher of the Week honors of the season...Named CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team becoming the first Retriever softball player to earn Academic All-District First Team Honors since 2008, and the first to be named Academic All-District, in any capacity, since 2010...Named to America East All-Academic Team...Named the 2020 America East Softball Scholar-Athlete, as she was one of six standout student-athletes who displayed excellence both academically and athletically throughout their collegiate careers.

2019: Had arguably the greatest season by a freshman in program history as she became the first UMBC Softball player to be named an All-American (Softball America All-America Honorable Mention)....Became the first player in America East history to earn Rookie of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in the same season...All-Conference First Team as a pitcher and All-Conference Second Team as a Utility Player....America East All-Rookie Team...America East Championship Most Outstanding Player as she went 4-0 (with back-to-back no-hitters) while allowing just two runs in 28 innings pitched, a 0.50 ERA, on only eight hits with 33 strikeouts to lead UMBC to its first ever America East Title and first NCAA berth since 2002....ECAC Rookie of the Year....All-ECAC First Team as both a pitcher and designated player (only player to make first team at two separate positions)...NFCA All-Region Second Team...2019 Schutt Sports / NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top 25 finalist....Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division 1 National Pitcher of the WeeK (4/9)...First player in conference history to sweep all three major America East weekly awards (Player, Pitcher and Rookie) in the same week (4/9)...Seven-time America East Rookie of the Week....Six-time America East Pitcher of the Week....America East Player of the Week (4/9)... Brown Outstanding Female Athlete...UMBC Grittys Female Newcomer of the Year.....UMBC Grittys Record-Breaking Performance of the Year....Also excelled off-the-field in her first year in Baltimore as she was named to the America East Helping Hands Team. Along with her teammates, she served as a mentor with Special Olympics and helped serve food and select clothes and gifts for Paul's Place, a shelter in downtown Baltimore. Moreover, she participated in the STAR program and mentored elementary school students in Baltimore.

Personal: Daughter of Amy and Robert Coppersmith...Has two siblings, Bobby and Ciara...Graduated with a B.S. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in Emergency Health Services..Pursuing her M.S. in Chemistry..Placed second in Districts, and became the first team in 12 years to qualify for states...Pitched a no-hitter, with one walk and 17 strikeouts...Distinguished Honor Roll all four years in high school, two-time Science National Honors Society.
