Biography

2010: Posted a win for the only match he played against Coppin State… Was 2-0 in doubles for the year… Named to Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the spring.

 

2009: Saw limited action, but did compete in several doubles matches… Teamed up with Joe Adewumi at Wilson/ITA Atlantic regional championships in the fall of 2009 and nearly upset a duo from William & Mary, falling 8-6.

 

Background: Majoring in interdisciplinary studies and is considering a career in physical therapy… While at UMBC, he has earned Dean’s List honors in the fall of 2007 and the spring of 2008; A member of Filipino American Student Association and National Society of Collegiate Scholars… The 2005 Greater Middlesex County Doubles Champion… Earned Third-Team All-State and First-Team All-County honors in doubles that season… A 2007 Second-Team All-County singles honoree… Earned four letters for the East BrunswickBears… Earned Honor Roll status in all four years at EBHS… A member of Spanish Honors Society… Chose UMBC because of its academic reputation and location… Has two younger siblings, Stefan, who is 19 and Samantha, who is 14… A fan of the NBA’s New York Knicks and lists favorite movie as The Green Mile… Son of Lolita and Sergio Yap… Born Feb. 14, 1989.
