Biography

2021-22

  • Placed third in the 5000-meter CSCAA Open Water Championships in September
  • Qualified for the 2022 U.S. Open Water National Championships, but due to bad weather and flight cancellations
  • A three-time finalist at ECAC Winter Championships – his best finish was a fifth place effort in the 1650 freestyle
  • Won a pair of races – the 200 butterfly and the 1000 freestyle in the win over VMI
  • Produced an outstanding meet versus Towson, winning the 1000 freestyle and earning silver in the 500
  • Captured the 500 freestyle in the opener versus Delaware/Johns Hopkins

2020-21:

  • Captured the 500 and 1000 freestyle events in the dual meet at VMI
  • Cruised to victory in the 1650 freestyle at the George Mason Invitational  
  • Earned silver in the 500 freestyle and bronze in the 1000 free at the America East Championships
  • Recorded a personal best time of 9:25.20 in the 1000 freestyle in Newark

2019-20:

  • Produced an excellent first season in the black-and-gold
  • Capped the campaign with a second place finish in the 1650 freestyle at the 2020 ECAC Championships, touching in a personal best mark of 15:44.86
  • Took part in three finals at the 2020 America East Championships
  • Earned a silver in the 1650 free and placed fourth in the 500 free
  • Finished sixth in the 200 freestyle
  • Won the 200 butterfly and finished second in the 100 fly versus VMI
  • Placed second in both distance freestyle events at Towson

BACKGROUND:

·        Took third place at MHSAA 2018 state meet in the 500 freestyle

·        Place fourth In the 200 freestyle at the 2018 MHSAA state meet

·        Holds his high school conference record in the 500 freestyle    

PERSONAL:

·        Son of Nobuko and Shawn Jyawook

·        Has three siblings, Hannah, Kai, and Spencer

·        Both of his parents competed in cross country and track at Unity College
