Biography

2022-23

  • A three-time finalist and two-time bronze medal winner at the America East Championships
  • Took third place in the 200 individual medley and the 200 backstroke in Worcester
  • Won the 400 IM by over three seconds at the ECAC Winter Championships
  • Also placed third in the 200 backstroke and fourth in the 100 back in East Meadow, N.Y.
  • Was a double winner in both backstroke events versus VMI
  • Took the 200 backstroke at the NJIT Invitational

2021-22

  • Competed in four events at the Navy Invitational and placed third in the 100 backstroke
  • Earned bronze in the 200 backstroke at the ECAC Winter Championships and placed fifth in 400 IM
  • Produced solid meets at William & Mary and Johns Hopkins/Delaware, earning a silver and three bronzes in the 200 backstroke and 200 IM events

BACKGROUND

  • Swam a 3:58 in the 400 individual medley to set a personal record

  • A Scholastic All- American (2019 and 2020)

  • Also considered UNCW and Cincinnati, but selected UMBC because “of the team environment. Everyone seems to be one big family that all supports and takes care of each other”

  • A fan of the MLB’s New York Yankees

  • Son of Beth and John Chapman
