Brian Johnson

Brian Johnson was named director of men’s basketballoperations at UMBC in September of 2012 and was promoted toassistant coach in August of 2013. He begins his third season onthe UMBC staff this fall. 

Johnson was a standout student-athlete at the prep andcollegiate level over the past decade. The local product was theBaltimore Catholic League Player of the Year in 2004, leading MountSt. Joseph to league titles in both 2003 and2004.  The Gaels compiled a record of 89-15in Johnson’s final three seasons. 

The point guard then took his talents to the University ofDelaware and put together an outstanding career with the Blue Hensfrom 2007-11.  Johnson ranks second in BlueHen history with 3,978 minutes played, third with 510 assists, tiedfor eighth with 135 three-pointers made, and 26th with 1,017points.

The Annapolis, Md. native earned his degree in sociologyin December of 2011. He served as an assistant men’sbasketball coach at Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. in2011-12 and the staff guided the squad to an 18-11record.
