Medical care is provided out of three athletic training facilities for UMBC student-athletes. The main athletic training room is located in the UMBC Event Center on the first floor and is home to the volleyball and basketball teams. This facility includes two plunge pools as well as a treadmill therapy pool, a physician’s office, conference room, and all the staff offices.  The UMBC Stadium Complex houses the second athlete training facility. Conveniently located between the men’s and women’s locker rooms, this facility is used by the soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, cross country, and track and field teams. The third facility is located on the entry level of the Retriever Activities Center. This facility is used for our swimming and diving teams as well as indoor track.

The Sports Medicine Department at UMBC provides athletic training services to approximately 360 student-athletes. A staff of seven certified athletic trainers oversee the medical care for all student-athletes participating in UMBC’s 17 varsity sports. Services include education, injury prevention, treatment, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries. All staff members are certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Board of Certification and are licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
