Baltimore, Md. – The UMBC Softball split on Wednesday afternoon with Lehigh with a 4-3 victory.
Jayda Koontz picked up the win in the circle pitching seven innings with six strikeouts.
UMBC scored in the third inning with Taylor Nicholson reaching on a fielder's choice bunt to score Kenzie Nicholson on third. Retrievers would take the lead in the fourth inning with Sophie Anderson hitting an RBI single to right field to score Maggie Frisvold. Kenzie Nicholson would follow it up with a single to score two more runs.
The Retrievers had seven stolen bases in the victory with Kenzie Nicholson swiping three.
The Retrievers lost the second game 14-2 (5 innings).
Emily Riggs picked up the two RBI scoring Abbie Frisvold in the first and third inning. Abbie Frisvold had two hits while Ella Squaires had a hit in the loss.
The UMBC Softball team returns back to the Diamond at UMBC on Saturday for a doubleheader against Holy Cross.
